AS2: Task 4 - Producing a Television ident into brief
My Television ident:
To create my CBeebies Ident was rather tricky, this is because of the process I had to go through in order to film it. First of all, I gathered all the objects and materials I needed for my ident such as, sugar paper, paper, play dough ,and glue to put it all together. As you can see, my ident was based on the Christmas season which is why I have included little decorations and Christmas tree to reveal this idea. Another thing I considered was to use a mixture of bright colours, because I am creating an ident for really young kids bright colours would be the only element to highlight the fact that it is meant for children which I personally think I done successfully.
To start filming my ident I had to move every object individually, in little movements and every time I did so, I had to take a picture of it; you could imagine how long this process was. Already I am an inpatient individual so for me I didn't enjoy going through this procedure. I edited my ident on the Adobe Premiere Pro programme and found that doing this was not as hard as I thought it would be. Because I had already selected the pictures I needed, getting the job done was not too long. I simply joined up the images on the timeline and cut out all the unwanted bits I din't want to be shown.
I ended up taking more pictures than I expected because I struggled to move my dough by little movements, so you will be aware of the slight fast movements. I wanted the audience to firstly see the 'Merry Christmas' and 'CBeebies' logo last so that the ident would end with more movement. Even though it is just lettering, it looks more eventful as soon as it is brought in with the rectangle and I particularly enjoy this stage of my ident because everything begins to blend in, which would make the children laugh more and want to dance along with what they are seeing in the ident. This was my aim for my ident. For my viewers to look at it and feel engaged.

Potential problems and how to overcome these problems:
1. If any of my filming crew is absent due to health, school or personal issues, I will have a standby person to replace them.
2. If the weather is really poor on the day we plan to do our filming, we will change the date to a week after and check if it is fine by the owners of the locations we will be using.
3. If the equipment break down due to carelessness or other reasons, we have to borrow a camera. If we do not find one as good as the school one we would have to manage in order to make sure we get our filming done.
4. If one of our props gets missing, the whole crew must be ready to contribute a token in order to get the costume replaced.
5. If our location is closed on the day we plan to film we have to choose another day and confirm the location will be open for use.

Health and Safety Issues to note:
· General public – need to make sure no one trips over the equipments
· Crew needs to stay together so no one gets lost
· Make sure there are no sharp objects on the field that could cause injury for the person cat walking
|
Potential Filming Problems:
· Lack of electricity supply – will need to use fully charged batteries at all times
· We cannot use artificial lights in one of our locations so we have to shoot on a day that is very sunny.
· We need to be sure the drama students do not need to use the studio while filming because this might slow down our filming process.
· Make sure we film before bell goes to avoid noise from students walking past.
|
Additional Notes: (map of area/weather forecast etc.)
Need to make sure everyone is alright with missing out on lunch or break in order to get the filming done as fast as possible.

AS2: Task 2 - Designing the suite
The suite design
First idea
My very first idea had a Christmas theme and was the rectangular shape.
1) Here is the overall image of my storyboard for my CBeebies ident. I only have four stages to my storyboard because I did not want my ident to be too long as it would already be in a suite.
2) This is my first shot that I was aiming to do when filming. As you can see the shot type is medium so that everything in the shot is seen clearly. The music is Christmas bells, something that can just add a nice, warm Christmas spirit and feel to the ident. Also, I make my character dance his way along the room so that it can look more realistic than just having play-dough stand in the middle with music in the background.
3) My second image is still a medium shot and the music is still the same as everything needs to be consistent. The dancing continues in this scene, moving his arms and legs.
4) The third image shows the same sound and movement of my character, but this time the shot is close up. However, when it actually came to filming I was unable to do this kind of shot because I did not want to zoom whilst filming otherwise this would ruin the footage itself.
5) These last two are shots of the CBeebies logo and writing saying "Merry Christmas". You can see that in the image I did not include the shot type because when filming I included everything in the still shot that I had and the CBeebies music was played at the end for its logo.
Second idea
1) The second idea was the triangle shape for the party theme.
2) The first scene is of the triangles at the party and the music is playing in the background.
3) The shot type is the same as the first scene; medium shot. The triangles dance and have fun, whilst the music in the background is playing and the sound of children too.
4) Once the triangles dance for a little while then birthday cake scene comes up. This birthday cake scene is great for the theme because it can liven up the audience and it adds a much more party feel to it.
5) The fourth scene continues from the third scene.

AS2: Task 1 - Ideas generation
Mindmap
I started off my mind map in my media book so that I could gain a basic idea of what I wanted my ident to be about. So, here is an example of what I did. My very first ident idea was to use bubbles and with those bubbles I would have different themes such as night time, summer time and after school. However, realistically I thought about the difficulty of creating this ident because I would have wanted the bubbles to move or be positioned in the way I would want it to but then would be almost impossible to control what they do. Based on this reason I changed my idea to something more simple, easier and faster to create because I didn't want to waste so much time on this.
My new idea included four shapes; square, triangle, circle and a rectangle. The four shapes were made from play-dough and different colours too which were orange, purple, orange and green. The idea for this ident is simple, the four shapes will be set for different times of day, have different themes and different moods. The square shape was set for the morning time which is why which is happy and excited for the day. The triangle shape for a party theme, as you can see which is very hyper and excited showing that it is in the mood for a party. The circle shape is for the night time, which is very sad and doesn't want to get ready to go to bed and last but not least the rectangle shape. It is Christmas time and looks jolly to celebrate Christmas. Bright colours were used for the characters only because CBeebies is a child's programme and for children bright colours would be the only thing to match the age and also grab their attention.
What makes my ident suitable for the target audience is the choice of colour and animation. I knew that for the type of ident I was creating had to relate to what children like or are interested in because they are the targeted audience. Instantly I included nice bright colours in my ident only because children are attracted to bright colours and is the only thing that can grab hold of their attention. So I made my rectangular shape a really bright orange; almost unmissable.
I came to the conclusion of choosing my final idea which was the rectangular shape which had the christmas theme. I decided to go along with this idea because as a creative person I felt as though I could bring a lot to the ident in terms of colour and a really exciting mood set when a child watches it. Adding onto that, I personally felt that using the Christmas theme was easiest from them all because all that is needed when filming the ident is a Christmas tree. I say the Christmas tree because it was the only thing I knew could point out that the ident is all about Christmas and this is why my chosen ident was simple.
